PIX4Dcatch_viDoc - Mobile RTK Scanning Device and Software Solution

RTK receiver for single point measurements with 3D scanning capabilities.

From now on, 3D scanning becomes even easier. A solution that combines RTK, 3D scanning, and photogrammetry technologies.

Traditional engineering 3D scanners can capture millions of points per second with millimeter accuracy, but not every task requires maximum precision or pixel density. An alternative technology is drones equipped with a LiDAR sensor or a photogrammetric camera. However, using drones for mapping in some areas can be challenging. While these technologies enable productive scanning and mapping, they require significant knowledge, experience, and large investments.

Advantages:

  • Extremely convenient and easy-to-use 3D scanning solution;
  • Can be used with iPhone or iPad;
  • Data is sent directly to a cloud solution for processing and visualization;
  • Much lower cost compared to traditional 3D scanners;
  • Absolute accuracy of less than 5 cm when using the viDoc device.

The PIX4D Solution - viDoc RTK Sensor with Pix4Dcatch Software:

The Pix4Dcatch app can be installed on Android or iOS devices and used for image collection, from which the PIX4DCloud solution generates final outputs such as a 3D point cloud or surface model mesh.

PIX4DCloud enables volume measurements, visual inspections, temporal data comparisons, distance measurements, annotation sharing with colleagues, DXF data export, and full project sharing with partners or clients.

To use Pix4Dcatch even more productively, it can be paired with an iPhone equipped with LiDAR functionality and connected to the specialized viDoc RTK accessory. Using an iPhone (or iPad) with viDoc enables various measurements:

  • Using the RTK antenna for geodetic precision point measurements.
  • Using a laser to measure hard-to-reach points, such as Z-coordinates in a well.
  • During LiDAR scanning, the device also captures images, compiling area photographs that can be sent to the PIX4DCloud platform to generate 3D results.

Applications:

  • Engineering surveying tasks.
  • Construction projects.
  • Public safety operations.

Versatile Measurement Modes for Accurate Coordinate Determination:

  • Measurements using lasers, photogrammetry, or by mounting the device on a geodetic measuring rod.
  • Measurements in hard-to-reach places – even behind trees, buildings, or in narrow spaces.
